The evidence is piling up that Omega 3 fish oil treatment for bipolar and depression can really help, particular with the symptoms related to depression. As yet, the optimal dose has not been clarified. Some studies suggest too high a dose can cause the benefits to be reduced, while other studies show very good results with higher doses. Even at higher doses there seems to be little risk, with the possibility of benefits on cholesterol and even arthritis. At this stage it is unclear how long patients will wait to see positive results, although with smaller doses it could be as long as 1-2 months.
