Hi, so my name is Travis, My girlfriend whom I have been for for just about a year now is bipolar. Yes it has been a rollercoaster. Making decisions, providing love, and trying to do my own thing on the side. It all is a pretty defficult task I must say. But im still at lost on some things. Maybe you'd know? She always pulls out the guilt trip on me about me not knowing anything about her and her conditions.. and it also doesnt help that she has endometriose. so it adds another chapter ontop of the bipolar disorder. But I just wanted to ask some things that may be affective when trying to solve a problem with her or just even, i dont know, making love to her. like she has some mood swings that will just set me off for the day. i dont try and ignore her or anything, i just dont know what to say to her because it seems ill just always be in the wrong you know..so im not sure on how to respond to something like that. For eg. were making love, and i realize it starts to get dull and non passionate.. i ask her if shes fine and shell say yeah or i dont know whats wrong. and then once it just doesnt work period, the blame is on me.. when im def putting in the passion i do as always. i dont know, but if you could give me some insight there that would be great. thank you, Travis

Georgie,
My husband was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after a string of episodes dealing with the law and 4 years in the court system.
I was so confused but I found my calling from this and I am now a Certified Professional Coach working with the spouses, partners & family members of those afflicted with bipolar to help them realize that they can be good supporters without giving up their own lives and dreams.
It's very fulfilling.
In short - I wouldn't have been able to do what I am doing had I not taken the steps that you suggest in this article.
Peace & Happiness to you.

My 22 year old son recently had his 3rd manic episode which hospitalized him for 10 days. In the hospital he had a psychotic break which I believe was initiated by the doctor's prescription of wellbutrin while my son was still manic in the hospital. My son now hears terrible voice and sees awful images when it gets dark and he especially cannot sleep. I applaud your article of freeing oneself from meds, but how does a bipolar patient control voices and horrific images without a psychotic med?

Dear Johnathan,

You have a very reasoned and calm writing voice. I like that. However, I notice that your piece on bipolar concentrates on theory. You tell the reader what to do but you don't say how to do it. Your information is great but perhaps if you don't just tell, but show, it would help many people.

Best regards,
Sharon
